The Find - A New Beginning

The aluminitus bug has again sunk its teeth into Norm & Jules. Although this was suppose to be a secret (until the renovations were done) it clearly is the worst kept secret around. Norm & Jules bought another vintage camper last year. It was advertised as a 1962 Shasta Airflyte and had been parked on some land, next to a lake, in Wisconsin, close to the Minnesota border. We are not so sure that it is a 1962 though. More on that later.

Jules picked out a design theme and name.

Meet Ginger

Believe me, it's in there. Finding that camper was a lot like my friend Waldo when he doesn't want to be found.

Snuggled in among the trees that grew up after being parked on the land, Ginger was convinced that she would never roll down the road again. Ginger didn't count on Norm & Jules.

Getting Ginger out of that resting place was a chore and a half but I made sure to direct Norm & Jason well.

While getting Ginger out of the trees and weeds we did discover that the area was having one of its worst infestations of ticks in years.

Not too bad looking... Plus the wings were still there!

A couple hours later, after repacking the wheel bearings, getting new tires and temporary lights installed, we were ready for the drive home.

All that was needed before we rolled out was to get all the ticks off off us! Yuck! No blood sucking hitch hikers! That's for the movies.

Hey, who took the ladder?

I hear Willy... On the road again...

Silly goose. You didn't think I would just take off and not show you the insides when we got Ginger did you?

Here she is.

A touch of water damage near the ceiling vent, but not too much.

Now that Ginger has been removed from her resting place it is time to get her back to her full glory and back out camping.

THAT is going to take a bit, but will certainly happen soon. I'll keep you posted.

All the best,

Travis
